The BMW M340i has earned its reputation as the grown-up enthusiast’s daily weapon, offering blistering straight-line performance, refined ride comfort, and understated styling. Here at Mod Central, we’re proud to say that Matty, one of our owners, is pushing the M340i platform in all the right ways.

His 2019 M340i is a clean, OEM+ build that blends factory luxury with purposeful modifications. In this blog, we’ll take a look at what’s been done so far—and where this project is heading next.

Mod and upgrade List: Matty’s BMW M340i (G20)

  • Back Box Delete & Carbon Exhaust Tips
Matty has opted for a back box delete to let the B58 sing. This setup delivers a more aggressive sound profile, especially during spirited driving, without being overly droned on longer journeys. It’s finished off with a set of sleek carbon fibre exhaust tips, giving the rear end a more premium touch.
  • Maxton Design Splitter & Side Skirts
From a styling perspective, Matty’s gone for the Maxton Design front splitter and side skirts. These additions sharpen up the profile of the car, giving it a lower, more planted stance without going overboard.
  • Vten Slim LED Light Diffuser
One of the more unique touches on the build is the Vten slim LED light diffuser, which replaces the standard diffuser with a functional LED strip. It adds a modern, high-end visual to the rear of the car, especially noticeable during night driving.
  • Bronze OEM Wheels & Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tyres
Matty’s opted to keep the OEM wheels but given them a custom bronze finish that really complements the rest of the car. These are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres all around, providing premium grip, stability, and confidence in both wet and dry conditions. A must-have for any performance-oriented build.

What Makes the M340i So Special?

  • 3.0L B58 Twin Scroll Turbo inline-six
  • 382 bhp (stock) & all-wheel drive (xDrive)
  • 0–60 mph in around 4.1 seconds
  • Subtle styling with genuine sleeper potential

Thanks to its B58 engine, the M340i responds incredibly well to tuning, exhaust work, and supporting mods. It’s the perfect platform for OEM+ or full blown builds.

What’s Next for Matty’s Build?

Matty’s not done just yet, future plans include:

  • Intake and intercooler upgrades
  • Stage 1 or 2 tune
  • Suspension tweaks to close the wheel gap

As with all Mod Central builds, the goal is to keep the car looking tasteful and clean, while extracting the best possible performance from the platform.

Final Thoughts

Matty’s 2019 BMW M340i is a textbook example of how to modify with intent. Every part on the car serves a purpose, either improving performance, styling, or daily usability. It’s not just a car; it’s a rolling showcase of Mod Central’s philosophy.
